Getting Involved

We want to keep Marsyas evolving and open source so that both academia and industry can use it to design and develop audio analysis and music information retrieval applications but it is reaching a point where we need more support. WE NEED YOUR HELP IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS (preferably all of them):

  1. Please DONATE MONEY through the sourceforge webpage http://sourceforge.net/projects/marsyas ANY AMOUNT is welcome and will be used to purchase hardware (Marsyas runs in Linux, OS X (Intel and PowerPC) and Windows in both 32 and 64 -bit processors), help with maintenance, documentation and provide some compensation to our volunteer developers. We already have received some donations and they have been extremely helpful. If there is anything you would like in return: logo on webpage, a specific feature, a big thank you note let us know.
  2. If you have used Marsyas PLEASE SEND US A BLURB (1 or 2 paragraphs + optional image + optional link to publications) describing your project and how you found Marsyas useful. We encourage both academic and industrial projects to send us information. We will add the information to the webpage and this will help us increase visibility and support for the framework. (even if I know about your project please send me a blurb anyway)
  3. WRITE CODE, SEND BUGS, JOIN THE MAILING LISTS AND SEND SOME EMAILS, WRITE DOCUMENTATION - if you use Marsyas please help us make it better. Even if you can figure out things by yourself you can help others by becoming part of our community. Even if you don't do any of the above I still would like to thank the MIR community for being so great. Everytime I see in ISMIR someone mentioning Marsyas in their presentation or paper it makes the enormous effort and ong hours that have gone into writing the framework worthwhile. thanks for your time and support,
    George Tzanetakis
